北京时间10月19日，据《半岛都市报》报道，青岛男篮主帅刘维伟将前往美国，现场见证杨瀚森的NBA首秀。
据报道，青岛男篮的大部分队员都会亮相全运赛场。但与其他CBA队伍基本整队代表省市参赛不同的是，青岛男篮的队员全部被“打散”代表不同队伍出战。其中，王睿泽代表广东、王奕博代表浙江、纪卓代表四川、吕俊虎代表河南。他们会出战全运男篮成年组比赛；赵嘉义将代表四川男篮出战三人篮球的比赛。此外，段昂君会代表山东U22男篮出战，这支队伍的主教练是“逍遥王”巩晓彬。
在大部分队员都被全运队伍抽调后，青岛男篮一线队只剩下郭奇芳、张扬等寥寥几人。根据赛程安排，第十五届全运会要到11月21日才会落下大幕。而新赛季CBA联赛的开赛时间是12月12日。在此之前，还会进行CBA俱乐部杯赛的比赛。青岛男篮新赛季前签下的四名外援韦瑟斯庞、米奇、汤普森与约瑟夫杨会于11月20日左右来到青岛。留给全队在新赛季前合练的时间只有不到两周的时间，这也给青岛男篮备战新赛季带来了不小困难。
